i-Space: Green Deck VR Competition 2019

Consisting of the Digital Makerspace, Digital Visualisation Room and Studios

Details

Situated over the Cross-Harbour Tunnel Toll Plaza, the proposed Green Deck will stretch from the PolyU campus to the Tsim Sha Tsui East harbor front, connecting the podium of the PolyU campus with Hung Hom station.  This 43,000 sqm deck will provide a green open space with cultural, leisure and sport facilities for the local communities, while enhancing the pedestrian connectivity amongst the nearby districts and improving the air quality around the area.

The proposed Green Deck is to be covered by greeneries such as trees, shrubs, grass, flowers and other planting materials for about 80% of its total area.  Events such as festivity celebrations, performances could use paved areas and green areas.

This competition aims to enhance the awareness and engagement of the Green Deck proposal among PolyU students by using cutting-edge technology. Contestants must use FlexSim(*) software to design scenarios for the proposed Green Deck, for example:

  • Park with sports facilities
  • Festivity celebrations such as Christmas, Chinese New Year, etc.
  • Smart City

Competition Results

The award ceremony for the Virtual Reality Competition for Green Deck was held on 3 April 2019 in the Digital Visualisation Room (i-Space, 4/F). 15 teams participated in the contest.  A total of 5 teams won prizes in the contest. Congratulations to our winners!
