Interlibrary Loan Service to find materials beyond the PolyU Collections

Provide support to the PolyU community by obtaining literature beyond collections in the PolyU Library.

Returning Physical Books

  • Physical books should be returned IN PERSON by the due date to the Service Counter on P/F of the Library during counter service hours. 
  • Books borrowed from other libraries cannot be returned via Library's self-check stations.

Loan Period of Physical Books

  • Latest due date of all items on loan to you can be checked on MyRecord.
 Books from UGC-funded university libraries in Hong Kong via HKALL  Normal Loan period
  • Postgraduate Students, Academic or Administrative Staff of equivalent status, Research Staff 
 30  days
(will be shortened if recalled)
  • Undergraduate Students or other Staff
 15 days
 Books from other non-local libraries

 Up to lending library to decide;
7 - 21 days normally   
  • Recall: If a specific book is recalled by the lending library, the loan period will be shortened, and you will be notified by email to return the book earlier according to the new due date.
  • Occasionally, the lending library may restrict the use of the book within the Library. In such case, please return the item to the Service Counter on P/F after each use before leaving the Library during the loan period.

Renewing Physical Book Loans

  • Renewal requests can be submitted via MyRecord.
  • Before your renewal request is approved and a new due date is indicated on your library account MyRecord, please return the book by the original due date to avoid incurring overdue fines.
Books from local UCG-funded university libraries

Provided that the book is not requested by another user, renewal requests can be made for any number of times until the maximum renewal period is reached.
Books from other non-local libraries

Renewal is subject to the approval of the lending library. 

Requests can be made via MyRecord when the item is due within the next 7 days.  The Library will contact the lending library and will notify you the outcome of your request via email as soon as possible.  Processing will normally takes three working days.
