Library Guide for Academic and Research Staff

Top things every academic, research and teaching staff should know about the Library.

Welcome to PolyU!

How can the Library help you in your teaching and research needs? This guide will quickly walk you through the most relevant Library services which you might need as a new staff.

Top 5 things you need to know about the Library

1) Know your Faculty Librarian
Each faculty has a Faculty Librarian. Contact them if you have any questions or requests about library resources and services. Our Faculty Librarians are also very happy to offer you an information session or a library tour!

2) Recommend course readings

Create your own reading lists for all students who are taking the same course. Simply click on the Resource List from the side menu within your course at LEARN@PolyU and follow the instructions here. You can also inform us the required readings by filling out this Recommend Course Readings e-form.

3) Suggest a purchase

Submit your recommendations for books, journals, and audio-visual materials if you wish any of them to be included in our Library Collections. Please check our holdings using OneSearch before submitting your requests.

4) Request a customized workshop

We conduct many workshops for students and staff. If you are interested in a topic that is not covered in the workshops currently offered, just let us know! We would be happy to arrange a customized workshop or consultancy session upon your request.

5) Manage your Researcher Profiles and go Open Access!

Managing accurate researcher profiles can increase the visibility of your research and publications.
Here in PolyU, ORCID iD and Scopus Author Profile are 2 very important researcher profiles for Academic staff.
Find out how to integrate your ORCID with Scopus Author profile through the ORCID-Scopus@PolyU Quick Guide or from our Scopus-ORCID Integration webinar: SlidesRecording

Deposit the “Final Accepted Manuscript” as soon as your journal article has been approved! By doing so, a permissible version of your publication will be made available in PolyU Institutional Research Archive (PIRA), the University’s institutional repository. This will bring more exposure of your research work to the globe. Visit this guide to know more about PIRA!
