Revitalisation of Existing Floors

The Outstanding Work by Students Showcase in the atrium of the Library P/F features exceptional student work which have attained individual or group achievements, or internal or external awards. All are nominated by Faculties or Schools.

The University Collection that contains print materials documenting our historical landscape has been relocated to a popular study area on P/F to increase its accessibility to the PolyU community.

Opened in September 2021, the new 24-hour Study Centre in 1/F North Wing has been enhanced and expanded to provide both collaborative and individual study spaces 7x24.

Large windows overlooking the courtyard enhance visual comfort, while promoting a safe and secure environment during overnight access (1/F).

Acoustically sound glass walls are erected between the individual study zone and the collaborative zone for sound buffering and transparency (1/F).

Semi-enclosed study carrels in the quiet zone offer quiet sanctuary (1/F).

Two new Seminar Rooms in 1/F South Wing are available for quiet study when they are not reserved for library instruction or other learning events.

There are also two new group rooms with state-of-the art AV facilities.

From 3/F to 6/F, internal bridges have been constructed to connect the two wings. Other than improving navigation, the bridges help bring in natural light into the core of the building, and create break out space.

Service space for enquiries and access services on P/F has been rearranged to enhance efficiency.

On G/F, high density shelving are installed to house a significant browsing collection.

On all floors, additional washrooms are constructed while existing ones are renovated to help cope with increased library users.

All lifts are upgraded to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency. Touchless panels help fend off the epidemic.
