Revitalisation of Existing Floors

From 3/F to 6/F, internal bridges have been constructed to connect the two wings. Other than improving navigation, the bridges help bring in natural light into the core of the building, and create break out space.

Newly renovated study space on G/F with large windows and greenery views was reopened in mid Nov 2022.

With the additon of 15 new group discussion rooms in G/F North Wing, the total number of group rooms increased to 24.

Use of high density shelving was expanded to house significant browsing collections while releasing more space for users (G/F)

3/F North Wing also reopened in mid Nov 2022 providing 10 new Online Meeting Rooms for online interviews and virtual meetings.

Construction of 5 more studios to support online learning and teaching.

The new 24-hour Study Centre was reopened in Sep 2021 to provide both collaborative and individual study spaces 7x24 (1/F North Wing)

Large windows overlooking the courtyard enhance visual comfort, while promoting a safe and secure environment during overnight access (1/F North Wing)

Acoustically sound glass walls are erected between the individual study zone and the collaborative zone for sound buffering and transparency (1/F North Wing).

Semi-enclosed study carrels in the quiet zone offer quiet sanctuary (1/F North Wing)

There are also three new group rooms with state-of-the art AV facilities.

Two new Seminar Rooms are available for quiet study when they are not reserved for library instruction or other learning events (1/F North Wing)

On P/F, the Outstanding Work by Students Showcase in the atrium features exceptional student work which have attained individual or group achievements, or internal or external awards. All are nominated by Faculties or Schools.

Service space for enquiries and access services on P/F has been rearranged to enhance efficiency.

AV materials have been relocated next to the Reserve Collection for convenient access to all short loan items (P/F)

On all floors, additional washrooms are constructed while existing ones are renovated to help cope with increased library users.

All lifts are upgraded to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency. Touchless panels help fend off the epidemic.
