Course Guide for ELC6002/ELC6012 Students

Reference Management Tools

As a research student, using a reference management tool to organize citations and references will save you tons of time. Reference management tools also allow you to share references with co-workers, and easily change to other citation styles (e.g. required by a journal).

Here are some commonly used reference management tools:

•  Download EndNote from the Library
•  Enroll EndNote Online Course on Learn@PolyU: Learn basics about EndNote, e.g. how to download citations from various sources and insert them in Word doc.
•  Check out Library EndNote Guide for more, including troubleshooting FAQs

Other Free Tools:

ZoteroBib is an online citation generator developed by Zotero. It helps you build a bibliography instantly from any computer or device, without creating an account or installing any software.

To generate a citation, you can refer to the steps below:

  1. Visit zoterobib and search with the URL, ISBN, DOI, or title of the material you wish to cite.
  2. Select a citation style.
  3. Click to edit the auto-generated information if necessary.
  4. Click to copy the in-text citation.  You may include a page number and/or omit the author in the in-text citation if you wish.
