Library Extension and Revitalisation (LER) Project

Library Services / Measures Implemented during the Project

During the works period, the Library strived to maintain its regular services. It was inevitable that some facilities and services would be suspended or affected during different stages of the works period. The PolyU community were kept informed of the progress through various means.

To meet the needs for study space, alternative quiet study space was made available during the works period. Various measures were implemented to minimize disruption and inconveniences to Library users:

  • Works were conducted in phases;
  • Building works of the additional 6/F were executed by wings. Most works of the Project (except works of the additional 6/F) were carried out in the summer periods.
  • Major noisy construction works were restricted to 8:30 am to 11:30 am Mon to Sat during Term Time.
  • All noisy works were suspended during Revision and Examination Period.
  • Complimentary ear plugs were provided on request at the Library's service counters during the Project.
  • Full height hoarding with top and bottom properly sealed were erected to fence off the construction area to minimize noise and dust.

We thank you for your continuous support as we endeavor to enhance the prospective learning environment for the benefit of the PolyU community.
