What can be Requested?
Eligible users can request the following types of literature via the online request form:
The Library will reject requests for items found in our collection. To ensure efficient time spent, we recommend that you check our holdings in OneSearch before submitting a request. You can learn more from Tips to Check Library's Collection.
You are recommended to use HKALL borrowing services for print books available in UGC-funded libraries, as the turnaround time for ILL is usually longer. You can learn more about HKALL borrowing services here.
We strive to deliver materials to you as soon as practicable. The estimated waiting time for your requests will usually be within the following timeframe:
|Obtainable from Local Sources||Obtainable from Overseas Suppliers|
6 working days
|Depends on the supplier|
|DDS||4 working days|
Occasionally, there will be extenuating circumstances where the Library could not deliver the requested ILL material within the specified timeframe. This could be due to a number of factors, including, but not limited to, a rare item that is very hard to source, lost in postage, supplier delivered the incorrect/incomplete/damaged item, and so on.
The Library seeks to achieve a balance between turnaround time and cost when selecting suppliers to fulfill requests. Requests will be sourced in the following order:
You may help shorten the turnaround time by suggesting possible sources to us via the online request form.
