BrowZine: a new research tool in PolyU Library
BrowZine is a service (available either via a smart phone or using a web browser) that consolidates scholarly journals from multiple publishers and platforms into an easily browsable format, optimized for iPads or Android tablets.
Current and back issues of journals (from 2005 onwards) can be browsed by subjects or alphabetically by title. Users can add favorite journals on "My Bookshelf" and can save articles for future reading.
Article links can be also be shared via email or exported to Refworks.
Setting Up BrowZine on Your Handheld Devices
STEP 1 - Download BrowZine onto your iPad or Android tablets
Find and Install BrowZine via App Store. BrowZine requires iOS 8.x or later for iPads and runs best on an iPad 3 & 4 and iPad Mini or newer.
Find and Install BrowZine via Google Play. BrowZine requires an Android Tablets with OS v4.0+
STEP 2 - Once you have installed and launched the app, choose a Library:
Select "Hong Kong Polytechnic University" from the pull down list.
Login with your NetID and NETPassword.
(For iPhones, please read FAQs below for information.)
Alternatively, you may use Browzine over the web with a conventional PC.
Browsing Journal Articles
1. Once logged in, you can browse Library subscribed journals in two ways:
By Titles A - Z (alphabetically) [Note: Not every journal that PolyU subscribes to is available through BrowZine]
2. Once you have located a journal, click ADD TO MY BOOKSHELF.
3. The bookshelf can be accessed from the My Bookshelf icon at the bottom of the screen.
4. A red badge will appear over the icon of a saved journal once a new issue is published.

1. What Journals are Supported?
BrowZine supports journals directly subscribed from a range of publishers. For current coverage, please check this list.
2. Will It Work Outside PolyU?
Yes, you should be asked to log-in using your PolyU NetID & NetPassword.
3. Are Smartphones supported?
The lastest version of BrowZine (version 1.8.2) can operate with iOS version 8.x or newer. If your iPhone uses this iOS version or newer, then it will run BrowZine. The latest versions for Android smartphones (version 1.51.1) can operated with Android 4.0 or newer.
4. Can BrowZine export to reference management tools?
Yes, BrowZine for iOS (version 1.6.6 or newer) now supports exporting citations and PDFs to EndNote (web, not desktop version). While viewing article PDFs in BrowZine, the export icon now offers choices: EndNote, Zotero, RefWorks, and Mendeley. (Android support will follow soon.)
